Q: I have a hydro air Mariah 12-1203 blower on my spa. It runs for a few minutes and kicks the overloads. when I reset it goes again. What could be the problem?
A: If it is a new installation I would say it has a sizing issue. If it has been there a long time and worked correctly in the past, I would say you need new brushes or a replacement blower.
Are we discussing a new install or an existing blower? If you need a replacement the Silencer Blower is a great choice for most outdoor blower installations.
Q: It's not new but it's been used very little. it is 2.5 hp but won't run for long. Does back pressure cause a problem?
A: Yes back pressure can be a real problem. Blower installations are very difficult to size correctly. The correct way to check out your problem is to install a fairly expensive magnehelic gauge and get the working pressure of your system.
A more common method is to release some of the excess pressure from the system. You can install a tee and a valve or you can simply start drilling some small holes in the pipe below the blower to relieve the excess air till it starts working correctly.
